i have a feeling it may of been actually, not the whole thing, but some of it, as it was the barbarian one and he wanted an authentic feel for the time...

its without question his best work. to be honest its definitely some of the best black and white comic work ever... this stuff is truly amazing, any artist should have a copy of his slaine in their archives... it seriously is beyond good :)

Very nice! I loved this book back in the day. Mcmahon is great. I always wondered if he and Cam Kennedy drank from the same well. Back in the day they both used that dark solid blue for their shadows. They've since gone in whole new directions, but those days were great!

Great job Steve!

i believe mcmahon and kennedy were friends, definitely from the same school at 2000ad at the time... a lot of whom were doing the color for blacks thing... which i do love

maybe i'll try that myself at some point... :)

actually in this piece the burning american flag was a symbol of, right or wrong, never backing down when believed to be fighting for the greater good... ;)

thank you very much...

is a weird piece, i worry people will take the image the wrong way due to the burning flag, but the burning flag is actually a show of strength when coupled with the title.

glad you like the piece, is still one of my personal favs :)

Very interesting to see, especially after I just finished reading "Flags of Our Fathers" that the thought of the image of the 2nd Iwo Jima flagraising could be portrayed as such, even in the future. Keep up the good work! PS- I highly recommend the book.

will definitely give the book a look... and if you can get a copy of the last american you should give it a read... is a truly amazing graphic novel...

in the book he truly is the last american.... well him and the three robots.... in a post apocalyptic world. hence him raising the flag, burning or otherwise on a hill of skulls... almost in defiance. wont spoil the rest of it, but it is amazing if you can get one.

its almost like book club, we'll exchange books ;)
